Arrived in FL
With just over 1400 miles logged over the past five days, stops in New York, Washington DC, and Manning South Carolina, I am now in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I arrived last night at 8pm after about 10 hours of driving. There was virtually no heavy traffic at all with the exception of a 20 minute period when a medivac helicopter had to land on the highway in front of me. I did some socializing on the side of the road with other travelers and ended up finding some people to chat on the radio with for the next hour or so.
So here I am in Fort Lauderdale. I arrived late night in time to go for a quick ride on a Sea Tow Fort Lauderdale rigid-hull inflatable. I got to see the area a little. I had no idea that Fort Lauderdale was so far south on the FL coast; you can see the Miami skyline to the south of here. The southeast has been going trough a cold spell so the temperature has only been in the 70s during the day. It's even been getting down into the 40s at night and apparently people are freaking out about it. Today I start exploring the area. There are SO many boats here; this is truly a yachting community.
