It looks like I want to drive to San Francisco. Maybe I was sleep-typing again recently...

question

Here's the question: Do I subject myself to an all-night drive after I get off work on Friday night at about 10pm? With proper alignment of the cosmos, I would arrive in Wellsboro, PA just in time to begin working at the Susquehannock Trail ProRally at about 8am. I was invited to work as service crew for some friends but I declined thinking that I would not be able to go. But now it looks slightly possible to pull off. The drive would be about 8 hours.

broadband!

It's back. I'm not sure how or why but I think I was escalated up throught AT&T tech support enough that some engineers went and figured out what was going on. It was definitely on their end. I was told that went a "Trouble Tracker" ticket is created for strange problems, they then send engineers to look into it. The engineers never enter explanations for the cause of the problem, they simply close the ticket. So I will never really know what was going on.

In any case, I have fast Internet again.

broadband?

I've had a cable modem for nine days now and it has only worked for the first four. Since then the cable modem flashes it's stupid little "Online" light and cannot get an IP address from the DHCP server. AT&T continues to acknowledge that it must be a problem on their end since all of the tests here at my house show that everything is working. It's taken me a week to convince them that it is probably a failed modem and they finally scheduled someone to come here tomorrow. We'll see... Broadband: 0 , slow Internet: 1.

rallying on tv

How awesome was it just now to watch the Speed Channel coverage of the Cherokee Trails International Rally. It was awesome because I raced in that rally!! As was actually able to remember and recognize parts of the stages while watching the in-car footage shown from the top running cars. Man, that was cool to watch! Here's a picture of me at the rally.

Boston's new bridge

Do you want to learn about the new Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge crossing the Charles River? It's the one which glows blue at night here in Boston. Well this Sunday you can walk on the bridge for free. This will be one of the last times you will ever be allowed to walk on the bridge before thebridge is fully completed next year. Check this Boston.com article which tells you all about the bridge and how to see it.

kitchen pics

I just added some pictures to show how our kitchen renovations are coming along. Take a peek. We're expecting about four more weeks of work (maybe three, maybe six...) until it is done. We are waiting on plastering, trim, cabinets, floor tiling, counter tops (granite), and painting. Of course there are numerous other steps I'm leaving out, but you get the picture.

funny how...

I find it funny how my brother and I have to make appointments to meet with each other sometimes. It might sound normal to you except for the fact that we live in the same house! We see so little of each other that if we have something important to discuss about family plans, stuff about our renovations to our house and the like, we actually have to make a date to meet. It struck me as funny when we talked earlier tonight, on the phone, that we had to agree to meet here at home at 8 tomorrow morning. That we don't always spend the night at home further complicates things. Sometimes one of us is actually coming from somewhere else when we meet up in the early morning.

On the beach

I'm relaxing down here on the beach in NC. Yesterday was clear and hot as hell, but the other days, including today have been cloudy, cool and breezy. Not terrible beach weather, but not ideal. Of course none of that has any effect on my ability to enjoy the atmosphere and the soothing qualities of the ocean.
