Fast-food trays

From a mailing list:

"Don't ask me how I know, but if you put two [McDonald's type] trays under the back wheels of a front-wheel-drive car, set the emergency brake, turn the steering wheel, and hit the gas, you can do some fantastic donuts until the trays wear out.

Weekend meetings

I almost forgot to mention it, but this weekend was great for new meetings. Several people I know, and who have known each other for several years, finally met each other for the first time. It's another one of those amazing things in life to be able to connect people and have them create their own connections. Like being a matchmaker in a way.

It was awesome to see people like Brian, meet Gregory and James for the first time.

Weekend fun!

Sean, Lukas and I had a party here at my house on Saturday. It was awesome. We try to throw nice little events every once in a while, with good music and good people. This event was no exception.

We dragged in many old faces from around Boston, as well as much farther away. Partygoers came from as far away as Maine (six hours on a bus just to hang out with us), Los Angeles (yes, James Ho came from LA for the party), Connecticut and New York.

I'd like to thank everyone for coming any making it a great night.

Sunday a group of us headed down to F1 Boston to race go-carts on their indoor race track. It was AWESOME! If you are even slightly into cars and driving you should go down to Braintree, MA and race these carts. It was SO fun! We got nine people together so that we could get exclusive use of the track for 30 minutes. We raced three qualifying races and then a final race. Simply too much fun to articulate here.

The love of a car

An excerpt from an post to an Internet mailing list about Saabs, by Heather Henry-O'Connor.

"Nothing in life worth anything of real value....is ever achieved easily.

I know the struggle of keeping a car I love on the road. I know how it is not to get the car out of the driveway when a paycheck to fix the thing is riding on me being there on time. I know what it is to suffer for my car.

Had the journey been easier, I don't think the journey would have meant as much to me now.

back from travels

I'm back in Boston after racing the Team Saabworks rallycar up in Maine, then headed to New York to fix the gearbox we cracked, and then on to Mount Merdian, Indiana for a fun couple of track days with my own 9000 Aero and then over to Cincinnati, Ohio for the 2002 Saab Owner's Convention. It was a hectic week and LOTS of driving was done. Yesterday I drove over 700 miles. I will post some pics, some video and more stories in the near future.
