carwreck.com: around Boston harbor...

hello from new york

It's the day after Christmas and we're just getting out from under all this snow. We got about 10" in the northern Westchester. Lucky me, I got to spend some of my holiday visit helping people shovel driveways and clean off cars. My car proved to be pretty terrible in the snow. I didn't expect much from such a lightweight, rear wheel drive car. But I reveled in its poor snow handling. It made things all the more fun as I was one of the only non-plow type vehicles on the road all last night.

Today I head back to Boston.

tis the season

We're in the thick of the holiday season now. We've passed Chanukkah, Christmas is around the corner and New Years is just down the block. I'm pretty sure that this week will wrap up my work at Sea Tow Boston for the year. In fact I won't be back for a while. I'm very much looking forward to my trip to Florida. I plan on arriving in Fort Lauderdale in the first week of January (driving down). While in FTL I'll bum around a little, get in touch with a few people I know, and find a ride for the Fort Lauderdale to Key West Race. Once down in Key West, there is the Terra Nova Key West Race Week. After that is up to the winds and the currents...

card?

What do you think? On the simple side, but that's how I like it.

interesting links

I just added the interesting links section down there to the right a little. Well, interesting urls is what i called it since there is already a links box. I set it up as another blog actually so its really easy for me to add links to it. That way if I comes across something I'd like to share but it's only a url, I don't have to make a whole post to the main blog. I can just add it down there. Should I add dates, so you can see when the urls were added?

moby attacked

Great, now Boston is going to get known for musical intolerance. What kind of depraved people are in this city?

And one more thing

Why does no one comment on my site?

Changing my site

As you can probably see, I've gotten rid of the site design I was using for carwreck.com. I'm tired of it. For now I've tossed up the default Movabletype template. Maybe I'll start customizing it a bit. I was getting too frustrated managing what used to be carwreck.com.

Update - This is now a new look and feel to carwreck.com The design is somewhat borrowed, but heck, it looks decent. Let me know what you think. 14 Dec 02 @ 00:02am

Conversation stopper

People don't talk to me. I'm not sure why, but I look around me at all the people who are talking, and I am at a complete loss for how to do it. I guess I have a pretty decent grasp of the English language, but I certainly can't formulate words into sentences and conversations like most people. This happened to strike me this evening when I was out at the local tavern. I felt like whenever I tried to contribute to what was being talked about, everyone became quiet. Was I committing the heinous act of uttering a conversation stopping comment? It sure seemed like it to me.

Phish tickets!

I almost forgot to post this. I was the lucky winner of some tickets to upcoming Phish shows in February. The tickets are in such demand that you have to enter a lottery just to be given the opportunity to purchase the tickets. Having entered the lottery for the New Years Eve show in NYC and not getting any, I was fortunate enought to get tickets to both the Worcester show and the Nassau Coliseum show. Whoo hoo!

south for the winter

Well, not really. But for part of it.

I've decided that right after New Years I will be heading down (probably driving) to Florida. I plan on spending some time in Ft Lauderdale where I intend to find a ride of the Ft Lauderdale to Key West Race. This feeds the Terra Nova Key West Race Week which I'll find a boat to sail on for as well. From there, the ocean is the limit and I'll probably try to find a boat which needs a delivery captain as it leaves from the Race Week. Destination is unimportant as my only requirement will be to somehow get back Ft Lauderdale to get my car. Maybe I'll come back, maybe I won't... :-)

astonishing music

What an article!

snow?

I have forgotten how much I fucking hate shoveling snow off boats. As if the possibility of slipping off into the water isn't great enough as it is, add snow and ice.

And there's NO way in hell anyone is going to convince me to go skiing this winter. It takes 10 minutes outside today to remember why I grew to hate skiiing.

Excited?

I don’t get excited. Often I feel that when it comes to events in my life, other people are more excited than I am. Is this a defense? Do I prevent myself from getting excited because of the possibility of failure? Do I expect events to not occur as I want them to occur? This kind of attitude must have an effect on the decisions I make on a daily basis. If I enter a situation expecting it to not work, then I must be projecting a certain negative attitude on the situation. That sounds like a recipe for failure. I must be projecting that whatever it is I am trying to accomplish will not happen as I hoped.

How can this course of action (or inaction) be prevented? Is there a surefire technique for plunging into a venture without feeling the loom of imminent failure? This certainly can’t be a good way to live.

thanksgiving debauchery

I went back to New York for the Thanksgiving weekend... At least I think so. It was such a blurry mess. Spent the actual turkey day with my dad and the rest of the time galavanting around my old stomping grounds. See the above link for all the incriminating photos.
